 Light burned magnesia ballsare made by selecting ordinarylight burned magnesia powder, mixing the materials, and then pressing them into balls. Light burned magnesia balls are mainly used in converter steelmaking for slag splashing and furnace protection, which can increase the service life of the converter. The preparation of light burned magnesia balls involves adding 20% water to 80% light burned magnesia powder, placing it in a mixer for rolling, stirring, and mixing for 15 to 20 minutes to form a mixture, which is then sent to a briquetting machine via a belt conveyor to produce the product, followed by stacking. The finished light burned magnesia balls are air-dried for 48 hours to gain strength before being sold.


    Light burned magnesia balls are used as a slag composition regulator for converter slag splashing and furnace protection. Because slag splashing and furnace protection require the slag to have appropriate viscosity and refractoriness, a reasonable slag composition is key to implementing slag splashing and furnace protection. General slag cannot be directly used for furnace protection, so a certain amount of magnesia balls needs to be added for adjustment, while replacing the use of dolomite, reducing slag volume, and increasing the MgO content in the slag.


    Since magnesia is a high-melting-point mineral with a melting point of 2800°C, increasing the magnesia content in the slag increases the slag viscosity and refractoriness, making it easier for the slag to combine with the furnace lining and form an effective slag protective layer on the lining, thereby extending the lining life and reducing consumption.


New-type products are industrial products that have developed rapidly in recent years. With their advantages of refractoriness and environmental protection, they are favored by experts and scholars in the construction industry both at home and abroad. 


    Among new-type industrial materials, the commonly used one is the “light burned magnesia ball.” Light burned magnesia balls are made from magnesite ore, calcined in a light-burned reflection kiln, rotary kiln, or fluidized bed furnace. The products are uniformly calcined, with stable quality, high purity, and good activity. They can be widely used in industries such as chemical, refractory materials, building materials, and desulfurization.   


    Light burned magnesia balls are used to produce refractory materials. In the United States and most countries that consume magnesia products, the steel industry is the major consuming sector. Light burned magnesia balls obtained from magnesite ore, seawater, salt lakes, or well salt are mainly used in the manufacture of refractory materials for metallurgical furnaces. Light burned magnesia balls are widely applied in various fields. 


    In conclusion, as a raw material, light burned magnesia balls will become a hotter demand target with the development of the new-type chemical industry, and accordingly, the wholesale volume of light burned magnesia balls will also increase.


    In addition, with the arrival of autumn, the weather is gradually turning cooler until the cold midwinter. The wholesale volume of light burned magnesia balls may see a slight rise, and the price of light burned magnesia balls will also increase accordingly. The specific trend remains to be observed.
