Dead-burned magnesia refers to magnesite calcined at 1800°C, where carbon dioxide completely escapes and magnesium oxide forms dense blocks of periclase, called dead-burned magnesia (also known as sintered magnesia). This dead-burned magnesia has a very high refractoriness. Its main component is magnesium oxide, produced by selecting natural first-grade magnesite ore through flotation purification, light calcination, fine grinding, high-pressure briquetting, and ultra-high-temperature oil shaft kiln calcination.
Magnesium oxide is a basic oxide with the general properties of basic oxides and belongs to cementitious materials. It is a white powder (light yellow indicates magnesium nitride), odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic, and is a typical alkaline earth metal oxide.
